Why would you think athletes don't care about what fans think? What would the reaction be if Rasmus said "I don't care what fans think of me?"
People want some sort of licence to say whatever they want about players, coaches, etc without any negative implication. Sorry, but players are people and if they read that their own fans hate them, it's going to impact at least some of them.

The fans that matter are the ones that buy tickets and merch. He’s never been booed in our stadium. So he must be referring to the social media and message board people, and yeah I don’t think he needs to care one bit about that group. No, it doesn’t serve him to say that out loud, but neither does he have to bring that up - no one else in the scrum did.
People can say what they want, but just as you would ignore a dumb take on this board so should he. He must have found a dark corner of the net to find anyone saying they ‘hate’ him. He’s a fiery guy and he is holding on to this idea of detractors in the fanbase for kindling - that’s what I think.
