No, that cabinet (actually just a cover panel over the dishwasher) isn't a different shade, it just doesn't have the protective plastic taken off it yet (same with the plastic covering on the fridge, the dent is actually smaller than it looks once you get that off).
Here's an example of one that goes past the cabinets to the ceiling.

I think this option works because of the lower / steeper angled ceiling, and also contains some vertical elements in decorative vases etc. Your ceiling has a lot more open space, which needs to be visually balanced somehow if you go full chimney.
