Ah good. I assumed because the sample pic didn't have backsplash. If you're going with backsplash, I'd say +1 vote for that decision.
The Cornice molding option instead of nothing above the vent certainly seems like it's worth considering. The sample pic of stainless steel on darkish grey is bugging me... though I assume you wouldn't do that, lol.
At a cursory glance, there also seemed to be options where instead of leaving the fan in colors to match the stove, it is painted/additional trim added to the edge of the fan to make it look like it's own thing or to match the cabinets a little more. But these pics range from not bad, not sure if right situation to downright brutally bad.
I think it may make sense to poke into 1 or 2 more ideas and then go with the one that instinctively seems good vs going down too far of a rabbit hole of some seriously varied hood fan decisions that others have made.
