I’m genuinely curious why you seem obsessed with this one in particular? Multiple threads created and shared in multiple others. Of course it’s unsettling, but I can think of two such situations off the top of my head in Calgary, one this year and one a couple years ago. It’s not unique enough by itself to explain why a random murder in Charlotte is getting attention here. Not that it’s undeserving, just genuinely don’t know why.

It’s unsettling to the point it should be national news every time it happens. When’s the last time someone was murdered like this in public? It’s disgusting.
