There is certainly a lot of weirdness that goes unexplained (international assassin etc.) but, i thought the ending was really good and very powerful.

As OP mentioned, the mystery sort of takes a back seat to the lives and trauma these people have. It's really great television that way, and depressingly sad

Also, it probably helps its only 3 seasons rather than 5+
