I've actually read arguments that long term grass pitches are cheaper to maintain than turf, because turf must be replaced every 10 years.

And the turf care and maintenance at Spruce Meadows is just plain great. I know nothing about show jumping, but have you seen that arena (or whatever you would call it)? It's pristine. They might charge too much for beer, and that is hardly debatable, but they know how to run events and manage the grounds. That part is really excellent.
