If Lauren was smart and proactive, this would be part of the plan. She knows he's gonna leave. She opens a business with a large physical presence. Has the weird concept to add an adjacent furniture store with "expensive" inventory. Knows the neanderthals up north will burn it down when McDavid leaves. Takes out a massive insurance policy, including contents. Makes more money then some weird high-end bar/furniture store would ever make. Invest in new business in new city.
