Even with the government backpedaling on the U12 thing so quickly, it would make sense for as many people as possible to go to BC for vaccinations. Alberta has ordered such a limited supply that they are going to run out quickly and I doubt they are going to resupply in a timely fashion. The few doses that Alberta has needs to go to people who cannot travel for a shot, whether because of money or disabilities or whatever.
Also, there is the benefit that getting the shot in BC is free instead of $100 per person and the GoA gets hit with the full bill by the GoBC.
For example, I can pay $400 to get my family vaccinated in Alberta (and take those doses away from someone else) or I can travel to BC, get the shots for free, and use the $400 for a mini-vacation (and hopefully someone else in Alberta will get the doses we did not consume).
I look forward to seeing the data on how many Alberta vaccine refugees go to other provinces for support.
