Selling #### on FBMarketplace is awful, and I had a sealed PS5 controller I bought for dirt cheap at The Source when they were being flipped over to Mini Best Buys that I decided I didn't need, so I was selling it for cost along with an accessory.
My god, every day for a month: lowballs, no shows, scam attempts, general tire kickers and time wasters. Last night at about midnight some guy messaged me, I vetted him briefly, saw he was selling Stamps tickets, so he must be local. 12pm today, meetup time comes, and he suddenly wants to send an e-transfer, I said no. 1pm, asked me where the nearest ATM to my house is, and and my spider-senses were tingling, I was getting a bit short and I told him. He asked again about an e-transfer, and I said no, but kept expecting a suspicious URL to arrive.
Now it's 3:45pm and I'm looking at his FB profile and notice every single Facebook friend is from Venezuela. At this point I'm mad at myself, ready to block him, and write off Facebook for the final time.
Then I get a message at 4:30pm: "I'm here" and my doorbell cams aren't picking anybody up, but I see a guy way down the street walking toward me. Turns out he was from Venezuela, moved here like two weeks ago, his wife got him a PS5 for his birthday today, and he spend two hours travelling from the deep SW to me (innercity NW).
The worst part was he was a super nice guy, who was--randomly--super excited about Rib Fest and asked me if I was going (never heard of it). So I feel like a total dick for making him jump through all these hoops and for being a bit short. Part of me wanted to give him a ride home, but we're going out tonight.
