Yeah most people get their significant salary improvements through transitions rather than sticking with a job don't they?

The union rules and even just the market throw their own wrench into that.. it's not like me where if I want to switch companies there's 100's to 1000's of companies that I could do what I do at.. there aren't that many airlines and switching would mean losing seniority and staring from scratch which could be difficult to impossible for someone that has been doing it for a long time.
So... don't become a flight attendant if you don't like the state of play in that industry. They were free to make that decision with the long-term pay implications in mind, no one forced them to choose that industry. Also, Canada isn't the only country in the world with airports and airlines.
