I’ll personally recommend the Valentine1 Gen.2. It’s very well priced and very effective, and pairs with an app for additional customization, GPS lockouts, etc. It’s also undetectable by RCMP’s RDDs in places like Manitoba (which is where I am visiting at the moment).

If you drive in Edmonton, you may want a Uniden R8 or R4 as those will be able to detect some of the weird tech they use for their photo radar — where they’re still allowed to use it.

Just know that once you’re in the city, manned speed traps often use LIDAR, not radar, and radar detectors are typically “ticket notifiers” for LIDAR.
