It's one of the easiest things to do, that offers several benefits, and no downside.
Just because you don't seem to know enough about it, don't assume those that take it, haven't educated themselves. Or trusted their medical professional.

It's not that big of a weird take. I don't think there is anything wrong with taking it occasionally or any other stool softener. I get it, we all can get constipated and need relief.
What my original gear grinder was how much exposure on tv, internet and supermarket placement we have for this stuff in 2025. It seems like it's everywhere and it's masking problems and a lot more people are taking them as a result of conditions related to our health.
The majority of people do not get enough fiber in their diets and are not active enough to assist with bowel movements.
An insane amount of people these days have GI related issues, gluten concerns and other tummy problems so to speak. Having bowel movements helps with those symptoms so I get it. Ozempic and other like medications have exploded in popularity for a variety of reasons, including diabetes and vanity reasons. Ozempic is known to cause awful constipation and other stomach issues for a lot of people so naturally more people are turning to stool softeners for relief.
Bottom line is our food system is beyond garbage in a lot of ways and our modern lifestyles aren't helping us in a lot of ways either.
That is my gear grinder
