Marchand to the Panthers to win a cup and now getting a wild 35+ contract to try and win again immediately. They clearly do not care that he is 37 years old.
Kadri is a couple of years younger, plays a more important position, and scores more goals in their respectively aged years. I do not think it is a stretch to assume that Kadri would be desirable on any team trying to win a cup and I believe because he plays C his value is higher.
Centers always go for more than wingers.

Marchand is a great example. Incredible playoff performer, 40 goal scorer. Better career and reputation than Kadri. He got a conditional second (he helped make that into a first)
IMO that is a great comparable in what we can expect in a Kadri trade. A conditional 2nd with outside chance of it becoming a first.
Birth year definitely played into that value.
