We can debate if trying to compete was the right move. But once the team decided they were going to try to compete - you have to then evaluate if the moves made sense under that premise.

I'm fully aware of the organizational mandate the Flames operate under. The Monahan/Kadria maneuver was Trelivings final move that ended his tenure . Like I said in my previous post, in hindsight, the better and smarter move was to keep Monahan and let Kadri sign elsewhere.
That doesn't mean I don't understand that signing Kadri and moving Monahan wasnt about attempting to replace a key part of the core they were attempting to keep. But it didn't matter ....in hindsight. They still left.
I actually think an argument could be made keeping Monahan would have aided the Flames in keeping the players they wanted to keep. But that's neither here nor there and is a full blown whataboutism that can't really stand up.
doesnt matter in the end. This is the reality we live in and they're doing a pretty good job building up while trying to be a playoff team.
Can't wait for the pre season or any more trades or moves they may make.
