Andersson had the chance to leave like everyone else did two years ago. He committed to stay and now he wants to go, or get an overpriced long term contract to stay.
This is in no way shape or form the same as Iginla if this drags out. We had the one most incompetent and pompous GM’s in league history running things for those years, and he only reemerged from the OReilly fiasco because he had to get something for Iginla and Bouwmeester. After the way Conroy was treated and forced to basically retire, players wanted nothing to do with him, and ownership and executive management knew they had to cut ties with the guy too…said GM at that point had no one supporting him, so blame for the Iginla saga was placed by said GM on the player out of spite towards the organization more than anything.
