We typically did three or four trips a year but I haven't been in almost two years because the costs have increased so much. The casinos still send us good offers with free rooms and casino cash but it still isn't worth it. I bought tickets to the Flames game in December but ended up selling them and not going down.
That being said only the strip has really gotten expensive. Fremont is still reasonable compared to the strip but it is also getting expensive as they try to improve the experience. Local Vegas still has lots of good deals and cheap restaurants but that requires being off the strip in places like Summerlin or whatever south Vegas is called.
