My kid did cheerleading for a few years when she was young and there is a big international tournament in Niagara every year which is a huge ####show and an awful racket. We never had to go because of COVID and my kid had quit by the time that these major events started up again. Niagara is brutally expensive at any given time on it's own but for this tournament the organization does all the hotel bookings and they skim a good amount of the top. If your team gets an invite you can only attend if you stay in the block of rooms that you are assigned. Teams can't make their own accommodation plans and if a gym gets on the bad side of the organizers it hurts them badly for getting invites to all sort of local and regional competitions.
