Be prepared to back up what you post about too, I’ve been lit up for my proposals in the past and I’m admittedly not great at determining values but at the end of the day it’s fun to debate about the roster of our favourite team as well as the 31 others while we are at it. This is an exciting time to be a Flames fan, our core is being reestablished and the team is still playing spirited hockey, lots of things to be pumped about!

Well said.
So let’s try a new trade proposal for Andersson just for fun. Detroit is a team that intrigues me as a trade partner for a few reasons.
1. They should be desperate to make the playoffs after this long.
2. They need a veteran top 4 right shot defenceman.
3. They have a pretty long history of Swedish players in their organization so maybe they would hope to have a chance to extend him if they have some success next year.
4. They have a decent crop of picks, prospects and young players.
5. They have one particular prospect that I would covet the most in an Andersson trade - Nate Danielson.
I know it’s highly unlikely that Detroit will consider trading him, but I’m wondering what a trade with Andersson and Danielson as the centrepieces would look like. Others on here have said Yzerman is very high on Danielson so it’s likely a futile exercise but it’s the middle of summer so here goes:
To Detroit:
Andersson (50% retained) + 2nd round pick
To Calgary:
Nate Danielson
Who says no? (Besides Andersson who likely has Detroit on his NTC)
Pros for a Detroit: they make a trade that gives them a real improvement next year. They seem so close to being a playoff team but just can’t take that next step. I think Andersson could be a big piece for them to do that. If it doesn’t work out and it looks like he won’t sign an extension, Detroit could trade him at the deadline likely for a 1st + 2nd + B-prospect.
Cons for Detroit: They lose a former top 10 pick for a player that could be a long shot to re-sign. It would be a huge gamble for them - but their 8 year old building has not seen a single playoff game so they should be desperate.
Pros for Calgary: They get a big, smooth skating young centre prospect who is potentially NHL-ready and was drafted 2 years ago at 10th overall. Bedard said he was the toughest player to face in junior. Drafted for his 200 foot game. Projections in his draft year compared him to players like Horvat. He’s also an Alberta kid.
Cons for Calgary: Danielson’s offensive numbers in junior and in the AHL are not as impressive given his draft position. The flames are putting all their eggs into one basket in this trade scenario where they are getting no picks back in an Andersson trade and the centrepiece is a prospect who has not played in the NHL yet and whose offensive numbers currently suggest a 3rd line center more than a top 2 centre.
There are risks for both sides in this trade. Probably more for Detroit I guess.
