And I don't disagree. However, we have to also remember that with defensemen, things often look this way - until they don't.
Both Giordano and Brody were considered by many (most) on here to be nothing more than 5/6 or 6/7 guys. Then one day they were the Flames' top pair, and then some people decided to give Giordano a Norris trophy.
When Bahl got here, everyone assumed he was a 6/7 guy. It only took him a month to demonstrate that he could run with the opportunity and elevate his game.
Forsling was was a waivers claim... and is now a #1 d-man for the champs.
Defensemen are hard to forecast, because it is a learned position.
