I went with Stromgren, but there are about 5 guys I have here - Sergeev, Zarubin, Solovyov, Kuznetsov.,,, and Poirier.

I have Poirier solidly in this group as well. I think people are down on him somewhat since the additon of Parekh and Brzustewicz, but I think he still has great upside and potential to end up on the Flames. That 23-24 season really hurt him with only playing 23 games (a bad cut, so nothing to worry about long-term at all). He started last season very slowly, but he really came on and finished comfortably in the lead for points from the blue-line (and in all fairness, Brzustewicz also started slowly and was 2nd). Poirier's major weaknesses were that he was a bit thin and that he was defensively irresponsible, which led him to be drafted in the 3rd round. I think he has really improved adding some size as well as becoming much more reliable in his own zone, raising his floor a bit.

Some random thoughts:

One player that I don't think has been brought up atl so far - and to be fair, it is a bit early - is Hunter Laing. 6'6" forward who skates well and has decent skill. He took a big step forward this season in terms of production, especially after the trade from the Cougars to the Blades. I think he has some underrated potential here, but will probably need time to fill out that huge frame. He isn't just big, he also seems pretty good!

Also too early for him, but I wonder if Ciona really impresses again this camp? He looked as if he took a giant leap in his development - especially his skating - during last season's camp. I am looking forward to seeing him this year. He probably does top-out as a 4th liner, but he may end up becoming a really good one. His production has improved, his skating has improved, he seems to have improved defensively, and he is one of the high-character guys in the organization too. I am not as confident he becomes a player at the NHL level, but he is a kid I wouldn't bet against either. I had more or less written him off as a prospect until he opened my eyes at last year's camp, and then went and had a decent season where he showed solid progression.
