I think Colbert has been pretty bound by CBS and network restrictions. Stewart and Oliver don't have that, Kimmel's boss is Bob Iger, who I'm pretty sure despises Trump, and Meyers has Lorne Michaels behind him and also I think a pretty niche viewership which he plays to very well.
If Colbert wants to continue his thing unencumbered by censorship or corporate nonsense, he'll be a bigger force than he ever could be on network TV. I wouldn't blame him for taking a few years away from all this though.
His last few months have the potential to be very fun if he feels pretty unleashed.
