Thanks, Royle. Unless the dollar ask on a 5+ year deal is significantly higher, I find it odd that Calgary isn't taking the risk by getting him signed to term -- particularly with the way Calgary is rumoured to feel about him (and not including him in the Cozens offer).
They've got the cap space now and if he develops as they expect, and doesn't run into long term injuries, they'll get higher value in the future when cap space is likely tighter.
Maybe the long term dollars he wants is too high... or then again, maybe this is just negotiations.
