Silovs has ice in his veins for big games and I think that's undeniable. A similar NHL goalie comparison is Binnington. Much like Binnington he doesn't show up in smaller games and that consistency issue is a big problem.
The difference between Binnington and Silovs right now, and why one is an NHL goalie and the other is still learning, is that Silovs cannot track the puck when it's moving at and coming from distance. It's a major flaw in his game that needs to be fixed before he will ever be a regular NHLer. The Oilers exploited this in the play-offs and then every team the following year took advantage of it. It was even still evident in the Calder Cup run even though the puck moves slower, he still had issues.
I think Silovs is going to figure it out, but he hasn't yet. In hindsight he was a major part of why the Canucks missed the play-offs last year as he got absolutely torched in every game he played while providing below average net minding. He would have gotten his chance to figure this out here if Demko wanted to walk.
