Even with hindsight, that team was built to compete and just needed a couple of pieces to get back to the playoffs. I think it is more likely that with some kind of mystical future seeing, Treliving would have changed dance partners and get the rumoured package out of the Blues instead of a Huberdeau package.
But really, if you have the power of seeing into the future then there would be a laundry list of moves you would want to un-#### before that trade:
- Tkachuk Bridge deal - Instead, sign him to a max term contract
- Trading Bennett - Instead, tell your coach to make him the #2C and deal with it
- Letting Gaudreau walk to UFA - Instead, set a preseason deadline to sign an extension before you trade him away for a monster return
- Trading Monahan - Instead, get a Doctor that shuts him down and makes him heal before putting him back in the roster
- Tkachuk trade - No longer needed because he is still under contract
Then, while you are breaking the laws of physics, you may as well go to the draft and snag all of those guys like Thomas or Robertson over Valimaki or grab Hoglander instead of Pelletier.. and claim Forsling when he is on waivers.
Then use your super power to win all the cups.
