Then, they issue a ticket and have your vehicle impounded by a private contractor. Often, these contractors have their “lot” in the woods somewhere. Then there’s some kind of mandatory hold period until you can get your car out. Then, come weekends and statutory holidays, where a contractor doesn’t have to be there to release your vehicle. Long story short, if your guy was stopped, say, on Friday, June 27, chances are he wouldn’t be able to get his car out until July 2 at the earliest. Plus, I’ve heard that some rules got even tougher and more complicated lately.
