I don't think a Byram for Zary trade should be reduced to "1st pairing potential vs 2nd line center potential".
Other factors to consider are:
- Health
- Likelihood of reaching potential
- Floor
- Long-term fit
- Contract demands
Not all of these are as easy to call. I did go through this with a paragraph each, but realized this is a fairly arbitrary and rather pointless post. I just think for whichever side (yes or no to a Zary for Byram trade) you fall on, it is a good idea to try and evaluate it through those 5 (or more if you can think of them) considerations. Maybe it will sway you, maybe not.
I personally gave Byram the advantage without thinking over Zary in terms of Health.. but then found out that Byram has a concussion history. Maybe the advantage swings the other way. 3 concussions in his first 2 years. The more I went through those points and considered things, the less likely I would want to pull the trigger on this trade. Definitely more upside with Byram vs Zary, but a lot more risk too.
