I agree it guarantees nothing. But the odds of a championship calibre team improve IMO.
Doing nothing and trying to squeeze into 8th playoff spot every year guarantees nothing with far greater probability than blowing it up. How do I know? Checks notes…… the last 20 yrs of following the Flames.
Just because Buffalo are idiots doesn’t mean we need to be. Moreover, I argue San Jose is actually very close to emerging here as one example, and secondly I think Conroy and the Flames drafting has been amongst the NHL’s best over the last couple years. Leverage and lean into that strength. Blow it up, trust our scouting, it’ll work. It won’t be a super long rebuild with this drafting / management team.
