Byram is an offensive defenseman that wants out of an organization that many want out of, needs a new contract, has top pairing upside, and is 24.

Agree with you... and what worries me is because Byram is in Buffalo and a RFA the player is less likely to protect the Flames from themselves on this one. The only thing stopping us will be acquisition cost, as the Flames are likely getting asked for roster players/prospects, luckily we overvalue those as an org... if this was a futures only deal it'd be done already and it would be the third time in my life the Flames would go into the season bragging about their defence.
