I think GM’s and hockey departments around the league are a little more sophisticated in their valuation of a players skills, abilities, and how the player may slot into their own organization.
If GM’s only traded player at a high point, or their pinnacle, I’d bet very few trades would ever happen.

The difference now he is that he has a long term contract. He’s like Farabee in my opinion, some team might take him on as a gamble if they get something else they want but he doesn’t have any value.
