If this report is true, can’t the Flames be equally as petty? Wait until July 1 and look at Rasmus new updated NTC list and then talk with LA about a deal, if Kings aren’t on the list, with an extension. If LA is good with 8 years @8.5M then re-sign Rasmus at that amount and trade him to the Kings. This would blow any goodwill and possibly cause future players to insist on a full NMC with Flames but it would be petty and ruthless. This hinges on Kings offer truly being a whopper which I also have my doubts about.
