Anderson has trade protection, and he is allowed to use it.

The Flames only real recourse would be to sit him for the entire year. cant imagine they would do that, but players have been held out before based on contract disputes.

I think it all comes down to conversations between Anderson and Conroy. If Anderson said right from the get go he is a rental unless it's Vegas, then Conroy has no reason to be upset. If Anderson has said otherwise, and Conroy has acted on Anderson's statements, only to have the carpet pulled out from under him, then Conroy has a right to be pissed.

It's hard to imagine Conroy would negotiate a deal with LA if he knew Anderson would not even listen to their extension offer, but who really knows.

I believe the Flames will get more than a second round pick for him, which is what they used to draft him. If management can keep trading up in value for assets it's still a win. Can't always hit for a home run.
