He is a good tactical coach and very smart guy and positive. It's why BT hired him here to be the coach.
But, at least here, he couldn't properly handle the player side of highly paid NHL players. As an assistant coach you be play the foil to head coach or good cop bad cop and adapt to the players based on how the head coach handles a player...but he lost the dressing room with the Flames not far into the second year and could never get it back. His assistants were far from helpful in that regard. Dave Cameron and the fellow that (I think) passed away recently.
Resorting to the stick throw was a desperate attempt to gain control back.
