I am not worried still. Though I do think that the best time to trade Andersson was last off-season (or the deadline right before then), it is what it is. Flames should still be able to extract fair value here.
Andersson and Conroy get along well. I don't think Andersson is going to hold a gun to Conroy's head, nor do I believe Conroy is going to stamp his foot down and walk Andersson to UFA and ensure Andersson gets screwed-out of 2 years of his biggest contract for his career. Neither of those scenarios are likely to happen.
If I am a team that wants Andersson, my first move is to sign UFA Mangiapane and give him a 2-3 year deal. They have been playing together since junior, and are really tight. I still think the biggest obstacle to Andersson's re-signing is Ekblad. Once Ekblad's future is determined (re-signing in Florida, or signs elsewhere), then that's probably when other teams get serious on Andersson. He is the most comparable - people not only like how these players play (skill level), but it is also about their leadership and what they can provide to the team. Byram and Provorov aren't comps to Andersson IMO. Ekblad is the first domino, then it will be Andersson. Let's just do our best not to sit in a corner rocking back and forth scratching oureselves about it. It will get done. Conroy doesn't walk anyone of value to UFA, and he hasn't made a bad deal yet.
