I always thought center was the position where a differential of a few inches mattered the least. It's less board play relative to wingers and defensemen, which is really the hardest part of the game if you're smaller. You're typically not the first guy in the offensive zone on a dump in as a center either, which is also where size is a huge disadvantage.

It's more skating, more hockey IQ, more positioning, more two way hockey and more mental abilities than other positions. And he has those skills seemingly.
