Um… no. It IS proof of that. If being 5'11" made it impossible to play centre in the NHL, Crosby could not have done it.
And neither could Brayden Point, Nick Suzuki, Matt Duchene, Jake Guentzel, Jack Hughes, Seth Jarvis, Connor Bedard, or Mikael Granlund. That's nine of the top 32 scoring centres this past season, as listed by NHL.com, whose height is given as 5'11" or less.
