What a pick! I was kind of hoping I would be picked by the Flames, but it turned out they wanted someone good instead.

Reschny is going to be amazing. An absolute beast of a player. I’m talking “transforms into a literal were-animal during the full moon, so get him into a kennel now!” type of player. He’ll eat your face for breakfast and still want pancakes. Like, a big stack of pancakes. Maybe 20 or so. (Incidentally, International Pancake Day fell on March 4 this year. It is always on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which is the start of Lent. So pancake day had weird religious connotations at one point. I suppose the upside is that pancakes were never considered sinful. Or maybe they just weren’t sinful right before Lent? I don’t know. I’m not a religious historian or anything. But in modern times, I would like to believe that Pancake Day is a more secular holiday. It should really be about enjoying pancakes with family and friends, not about indoctrination or penance for my many, many sins. Also, I came here to discuss the draft, not talk about pancakes. I would appreciate if we can get this thread back on track.)

All along I was hoping this guy would drop to us. I was kind of hoping we’d draft Jim Pancake, but I am not sure he was even projected to go in the first round. Maybe a third round surprise? I’m not even convinced Jim Pancake is even a real player. But if you surprised me with pancakes, I definitely would not complain. (Hint, hint)

I would have predicted the Flames making exactly this pick, but I would have come off as arrogant since I’m always right. This is a “can’t miss” pick though. You have my 100% guarantee on that.

I have to go, though. I have a big breakfast planned for tomorrow.
