First, he is very full of himself. He believes he is a star in the making and he can rub some people the wrong way. I think the language barrier does not help either. Also, because he has so much natural talent he hasn't been the best at staying on top of his training. That's an issue that needs to be addressed for sure. Ryabkin can play physical and be effective at throwing hits or being a pest but much like Pospisil did he has to learn not to cross over the line. So far he has not shown that and can take a bad penalty.
I think Muskegon was a terrible fit for Ryabkin because of not only the language barrier and the way he can rub others with his overconfidence, he was saddled with an absolute puck hog in Dave Deputy who has a similiar ego as Ryabkin. It definitely hurt Ryabkin's numbers playing with Deputy, I have watched enough film to see that.
So he is a hell of a project, maybe he doesn't put it together but if you get through to him to put in the work and wake him up to what he has to do to succeed at the next level you have a top 5 draft talent. If he doesn't he might carve out a career as a bottom 6 pest. Personally I think the swing is worth it because if you get through to him and he puts in the work and eats some humble pie you have a big time talent. None of the other players listed here have the talent and package that Ryabkin potentially has.
