Todd Button was at one of the playoff games I was at so they very much have interest. The knock I've heard in the 2025 draft thread on Reschny is that he can disappear at times. But I saw him play about 8 games this past year and I never noticed it.
Even during the first half of the year, before the Royals picked up Isogai and Boehm, and when Reschny wasn't wracking up the points, he was still significantly effective, with a high motor that was always on. His high level plays just died on the sticks of his teammates, until January when they picked up a couple better players that helped spread out the offence.
But I'm not a scout and I certainly have a blind eye towards weaknesses when I like a player!
I haven't watched much of Cootes, and I appreciate dissentower's concerns around his upside, but I'm wondering if Reschny and he are quite similar but that Reschny had the benefit of the Royals making big trades half way through the season, which gave Reschny more opportunities to finish. Cootes play on Team Canada this past May seemed to suggest that when he has high end support, he can wrack up the points as well.
I'd be happy with both... and happy with Kindel too. I just REALLY like Reschny (and he seems like a high character kid too).
