Who said anything about expectations? Holding Conroy to fantasy trade proposals is almost as dumb as telling people to stop having fun with the conversation while we wait for the actual trade to happen.
Playing armchair GM is fun and trying to put myself into Grier's mindset for how to turn his organization around makes it obvious that he needs one thing this summer: Defensemen. The Sharks need vets to turn their D squad into an NHL D squad and they also need RD prospects to add to the empty pipeline.
The shortsighted posters on this board will yell "pick BPA forever!!!!!" but that is not how you build a team and it is not how you deal with organizational depth. This is a good learning exercise that many who want a rebuild should take notes from - how do you get out of a rebuild once you have a pile of prospects from years of tanking?
Honestly, I think Grier has a plan that involves aggressively upgrading his D group this summer so that when Askarov takes the net next season he is not getting destroyed night after night. If he misses out on Andersson and Ekblad then that objective becomes almost impossible to accomplish.
