It's fairly insane that the central political issue in the New York mayoral race seems to be Israel / Palestine. I mean I know there is a bunch of local stuff too of the type you'd expect but that conflict just seems to have hung over the whole thing in the worst possible way. And it's not going to stop now; I can understand why the democratic party broadly, outside of NYC, is dreading the mailers that the GOP will be able to send out using his response to October 7th and the whole "globalize the intifada" business. That's just easy fundraising.

EDIT: To be clear in no way is this post an invitation to start an argument about the Israel / Palestine conflict itself, keep that crap in the other thread.
