I can do that (wicked slice) on purpose if I really swing and twist my hips a bit early. With me it seems to be a tempo thing.
If my arms come through first, I pull my shot left.
If I open my hips up too soon (cue Fotze), I get a slice.
I will also slice if I'm standing a bit too far from the ball.
That's 3 of about 279 things that can go wrong with my tee shots, but if I get a nice tempo then I'll generally have a decent round (of course then my second shot will go to hell, but that's golf).
