It would be a gamble but that is why you would run 8 D in the group. Bean and Miromanov would slot in to give Parekh, Kuznetsov, and Solovyov breathers and nights to watch without being sent down to the AHL.

Also, you could restructure the pairings to shelter guys if needed:
Bahl-Weegar (big minutes)
Solovyov-Pachal
Kuznetsov-Parekh

I do not think the Flames need to add someone like Samuelsson to block one of our young players from making the roster. If Buffalo was offering us Byram then I'd change my tune as he would be a core player going forward but Samuelsson is not that level of player.

Kuznetsov in particular needs a long look at the NHL before we lose him. He is now an unsigned RFA with a potential exit strategy to the KHL. Considering he was a 2nd round pick that we have now put 5 years of development into, never seeing him graduate to the Flames would really make me wonder why we bother collecting draft picks outside of the 1st round.
