Depends on how it is negotiated and written into the contract.

A player can negotiate that he has to provide a list within 24/48/72 hours of the team requesting the no trade list and the list is good for one week/month for example.

The most common way in the NHL is they provide a list every July 1st that covers the entire season.

And as we have seen, a player/agent failing to submit a no trade list to a team by the specified deadline can invalidate a no trade clause.
