I wonder who that roster player was because that doesn't seem like bad value to Minnesota (unless that roster player was a dud).
Rossi is undersized, undeniably, at 5'9" and 182 lbs. He has managed to do this:
24/25: 24G, 36A, 60PTS, 82 GP
23/24: 21G, 19A, 40PTS, 82 GP
22/23: 0G, 1A, 1PTS, 19 GP
Michael Russo has said Guerin is wanting a player who can replace Rossi's 55-60 points, so I'd guess Vancouver wasn't bringing that to the table. Looking at Vancouver, I feel like the only two players that somewhat fit that are Garland and Hoglander, and maybe Chytil?
Calgary also doesn't have a stand out player that fits the bill. Sharangovich's down year probably makes him a no, Farabee and Frost are both coming off down years...would Minnesota do Zary? Would the Flames do Zary - I'm not sure they would.
Minnesota is likely looking to fill two roster spots up front this Summer (with the subtraction of Rossi). I wonder if the Flames couldn't get Minnesota to bite on a quantity for quality? Frost + Farabee + 32nd? Add in the 54th? Hard to see an exact fit with Calgary.
I feel like Minnesota and Buffalo could be pretty good trade partners...

Gurein is a tool. Why would a team give up the exact same production AND their 1st rounder? If you're giving up an equal player, it should be one-for-one with maybe some minor adds to account for contract and maybe age differences.
Unless Minnesota is taking back a bad contract as well. If they want a 55-60 point player back, maybe we can interest them in a slightly used Huberdeau.
