It's wishful thinking by Oilers fans and those with Oiler sympathy. There is absolutely zero chance this guy, who will have the opportunity to sign the richest deal in NHL history, is going to leave money on the table to essentially do the Oilers a favour. He's put in his time, he's gonna get fully paid. If the Oilers do end up keeping him its gonna be a long term deal. Its laughable to think it won't be.
