Yeah, it's good to have players like that in the organization. You need some vets on the farm helping the prospects, and being an AHL pro while getting occasional NHL games isn't a bad place to be especially when you are getting paid a decent AHL wage.
It probably also helps players in this role if they are eyeing a post-playing hockey career one day.
