Flyers after the trade
10-15-4. Not a ton worse, but worse after the trade. They get 6th pick by taking action in January rather than March. They dumped Kuzmenko too.
6-11-2 after the trade deadline.
Maybe the could have got more, but they got 6th pick by taking action earlier.. They could have got 12th pick if the waited to trade Frost and Farabee in the summer when the cap was going up and their value might increase with extra cap space.
I do prefer Briere's strategy, but maybe Conroy flips Farabee for good value 5 month later.

Last year the Flames traded Zadorov and Lindholm way before the deadline, and only really waited until the last minute on Hanifin.
So Conroy took this approach too.
