Maybe his legacy will be having the balls to say, “it’s not my fault they drafted me. I stayed as long as I could and worked with them as much as I could, but in the end they’re just not a very good organization and it’s better for me and my family that I move on.”

Look at a guy like Iggy. He’s proven time and again that he can be an integral part of championship teams (juniors and olympics). He was loyal to Calgary to the point that his legacy has been tarnished by never winning a Cup. He could have had one or two at least if he would have moved on in his prime. A generational player who to this day is still snubbed (NHL top 100) because the Flames were never able to build a championship team around him. Obviously he cemented his legacy in Calgary to Flames fans through his loyalty and awesomeness… but it’s a shame that the hockey world never got that shot of him with a Cup over his head.
