Pick trading isn't anywhere close to apples and oranges comparing the 2 leagues, it apples to canoes. You can't do that in the NHL. Never has been like that and never will.
I'm all for drafting and developing talent, getting a Chicago dynasty era churn happening where you have a three year buffer of prospects rolling up though. That's when you can shuffle off your Byfuglins and Sharps.
But that's not going to stop them from making trades to build up the kind of roster you need to make that happen.
