I don't think the Flames are looking for a 1B, but for a cheap serviceable backup. Wolf will start 60-65 games each season. He wasn't any better than replacement last season anyway, so if he wants 2.8 and they can get a decent backup for 1.8, that will make a significant difference in their cap flexibility going forward. Remember, they will be wanting to offer a lot of young players long-term contracts, including Wolf.
